WE WERE GRANTED RELIGIOUS VISAS!
Yesterday Elder Lee went to a postal station to pick up boxes of Seminary books. Our evening appointment fell through, but the Lord had a back-up plan! We had an older brother, Mario (73), come by and talk to us. His wife has been gone for 2 years. He wants to marry again...so he put an ad in the paper! He is an editor for the paper. He had one "taker", but when he gave her a Book of Mormon, she wouldn't read it...so she's out!
Today, Kumar (Lathens’ driver) took us to the Immigration Office to apply for visas. Senior Missionaries have not been approved for Religious Visas for years, but miraculously we were approved! Elder Lee will be able to baptize those we teach!!
When we got home, we had time for lunch and a bit of a rest before Shammika came to pick us up in his truck to take us to Sister Niluka's near Chilaw for dinner. Niluka’s husband, Ravindra, is not a member. He was raised as a Buddhist. The Buddhist villagers where they live complain when missionaries visit his home. Shermila, Niluka's oldest sister, lives near the parents--their father, Vijith, and mother, Manel live in Chilaw; Shereen (2nd in Family) lives by the airport with two little girls; Niluka (3rd in Family); Brother Frank (4th in Family); Wasanthi (youngest); Shammi (Shermila’s daughter) was raised as a “baby sister” in the family.
